The bright blue color of blue spirulina comes from the extraction of the phycocyanin pigment. It’s harvested, the phycocyanin is extracted, and then it’s dried at low temperatures to preserve its nutritional value.

You can add blue spirulina to juices, smoothies, bowls, baked goods, and more! It also makes a great addition to savory recipes! The smell and flavor of blue spirulina are much more neutral than green spirulina, making it easy to receive some of the benefits of spirulina with less of an algae taste.
